  General Recipes

I am thankful to have the following list of healthy and skin rejuvenating recipes to share with you courtesy of www.SpaIndex.Com unless otherwise noted.

SKIN CARE RECIPES:
SUNBLOCK

Our esthetician experts say "If you can see your shadow, you need sunblock."  However, did you know the active ingredients in sunblock often dissipate after the season? So, always use a sunblock, but, don't purchase in bulk or save that last little bit in the bottle for next season.  Buy as you go, in order to always have a fresh batch, or, make your own.

Note: This recipe will leave a white nose "lifeguard style."

1 Tbs zinc oxide
1 1/2 tsp light sesame oil
1 Tbs rosewater

Mix together the zinc oxide and sesame oil. Heat the mixture gently, using a double boiler, and stir well to mix. Remove from heat and slowly add the rosewater, as you continue stirring. Allow to cool completely, and store in a clean container with a tight lid, in the fridge. Yield: 2 oz.  Keeps: Up to 10 days in the fridge.

SKIN CARE RECIPES:
TOMATO BLEMISH REMEDY

1 tomato, ripe, chopped
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 T instant style oatmeal or old fashioned rolled oats

Blend all ingredients until just combined, in a paste. Apply to blemished skin, making sure the mixture is thick enough to stay in place.  Leave in place 10 minutes.  Remove with damp washcloth, and rinse and tone.

SKIN CARE RECIPES:
HAIR REMOVER - BODY SUGARING

Juice of 1/2 a lemon
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey
cornstarch
clean cloth cotton strips
wooden stick or spreader

Dust the area to be waxed, with cornstarch.   Combine the first three ingredients in a clean glass bowl, and microwave for two minutes. Stop and stir your sugar mixture every 20-30 seconds.  Let it cool to a comfortable warmth, and, using a wooden stick, spread a very thin layer onto your clean skin.  Immediately cover the mixture with a strip of cotton fabric.  Briskly stroke the strip several times in the direction of the hair growth, and then, pull the skin taut, and quickly rip away the cotton strip, against the direction of hair growth.   As you proceed, you may need to reheat your sugar mixture in the microwave to keep it warm.  Do not boil it or overheat as you could easily burn your skin.

SKIN CARE RECIPES:
SOAPSICLES

8 oz. Unscented, Clear Glycerin Soap
1/4 Teaspoon each Cherry, Lime, Grape and Orange Fragrance Oil
Red, Orange, Green and Blue Food Coloring
Popsicle Molds
Popsicle Sticks (unless you plan to use the plastic caps which accompany the mold)

Divide your soap into 4 parts of 2 ounces each.  Melt one part at a time in a glass cup in your microwave. Work in small batches.

To batch one, add cherry fragrance oil and 2 drops of red food coloring. Stir gently and pour into popsicle molds.  Add a popsicle stick (you may wish to use something to prop the stick in the center of your liquid soap, including a piece of mesh or paper, with a slit cut into it.

Repeat the process for orange, lime, and grape (purple is made with 1 drop of blue and 1 drop of red coloring).

Put Popsicle molds in your freezer, and when frozen, remove from molds.  Store in cellophane bags with a ribbon or a twist tie.  Be certain to mark clearly so they do not appear to be candy!
