Emotional Acne Scars

I lived with the emotional acne scars of a teenager when I was in my twenties. It was especially tough after hearing all my life that I had the perfect complexion.  It was frustrating to say the least, and no matter what I tried to get rid of it, it continued to remain plastered on my face for two years.

At the age one would expect their piers to be understanding, I became a source of jokes and name calling, the worst being "cleat face."

I realized what teenagers must suffer as much younger, more vulnerable people, so I decided to write this article on the emotional effects caused by acne  in hopes of helping all ages of acne sufferers while they are in the midst of cure.

Those obvious red bumps on a person's face may not need as much treatment as the emotional effects they can cause.  Not even an expert dermatologist can provide the best answers for this problem.

According to studies, acne is very common when one is in his teenage years, but as mentioned it can afflict men and women as well.  For teenagers experiencing the pains of acne, it is very difficult to face the social impact of acne.  If not treated, the emotional acne scars can effect their whole outlook on life because of shame, depression and even self-pity.

As a parent or a spouse of someone with this problem, you can give your loved one the emotional support they need.  If you're suffering from this temporary condition inform your family of the type of help you need to get through the experience.

Know That Acne Is Temporary:

Ask for the encouragement you need.  Let your family know that this is a temporary condition, but that you need their support and understanding. You may need someone to speak with when you're feeling badly if you're a teenager or a sensitive adult when others treat you badly with negative jokes and comments.  However, on your own, remember that you are more than the red bumps on your face.  Hold your head up high and most past the cruel comments.

Take Your Teen Or Loved One To A Good Dermatologist:

See a good dermatologist right away. The earlier the better. This may be cliche but very true for this matter in order to discover the cause. Find someone who you can trust.  Teens should have their parents attend the the doctor visits with them.  Follow all instructions  given for the best results.

Make Any and All Changes Necessary

I didn't like pushing my hair back and not wearing make-up when I was being treated for acne, but I did what I knew would give me the quickest cure.  There are some things or acts that may worsen acne. See to it that you remember any daily regimens, care, products and medications needed.

Boost Your Self-Confidence

Self-confidence can plummet when all those mocks and teases arise. The effects can leave one bitter.  I found that it helps just to smile or laugh and then take stock of who your friends really are.  This is just a part of your life that can shape your character and give your great strength to accomplish what you desire in life.  So don't let others rob you of your inner well-being.

Your parents or relatives certainly need to remind you how important you are and what value your offer above the obvious acne on your face.  It will be helpful to remain patient and thankful to those who are supporting you.

In conclusion, cling to those who love you and block out those who care little about you and what you're going through in order to heal from emotional acne scars.
