Manicures and General Care
Try these aging hand solutions if your hands are dry and cracked or if they are beginning to show signs of aging. Dry red hands that are rough is a sign that you need more liquid in your diet and that they are not properly hydrated. If this is the case they might become infected.
Daily Hand Skin Care
Drink at least 4 to 6 (up to 8) 8 oz. glasses of water per day to hydrate your skin from the inside out.
Don't over wash your hands and keep them dry as much as possible. After washing, dry gently with a soft towel. Use a gentle cream or lotion after each washing and be sure to keep them near all areas where you wash your hands. Only use creams that don't irritate your skin.
Also be sure to purchase a soap for your hands that do not have stains or fragrances if you have sensitive skin. Use only soaps made of natural products. I use Ivory soap but you may have your own brand.
If you need more protection or your hands are in need of healing from rough, dry skin, purchase thin cotton gloves from your local drug store and where them after putting on your cream or lotion. Apply more cream and wear gloves before going to bed at night.
Always use rubber gloves when using cleaning products and washing sinks or toilets.
Dry, cracked skin can be a serious condition, not to mention painful. It can also cause you to be ashamed of your hands. So be sure to keep your hands from getting infected by preventing the bacteria that is naturally on your hands from getting into any open wounds or sores.
If you have persistent problem with dry, cracked hand skin, seek a doctor's advice. You may have a medical condition.
For healthy skin, use your preferred hand cream throughout the day, after washing your hands, and before you go to bed at night. My personal favorite for years has been Neutrogena Norwegian Formula. I use it on my feet as well. You can buy a 2 ounce tube for about $4.00.
Traveling: If you are away from home, take with you a cotton towel or a few soft paper towels. Use them in public restrooms when you can only find hot-air dryers. They will dry your skin. Also take bottles of pure water to drink as often as possible to keep your skin hydrated. And don't forget your favorite lotion or skin cream.
Attractive Hands: If your hand skin is soft and appears healthy you may want to finish the look with polished nails.
If
you don't have time
or you
don't wish to budget money to get your nails done, you can do it
yourself easily and quickly. See below.
